About the role

We’re looking for a passionate Talent Acquisition professional to join Root and help us grow our team - locally and globally. If you’re sincere, driven, purposeful and energised by the idea of building a world-class team, this role will be a great fit for you.

In this role, you’ll work closely with hiring managers across the company to align and execute on hiring needs – providing our teams with the best talent, matching Root’s high bar for performance, potential, and our values. You’ll be responsible for running and refining an effective and fair hiring process, ensuring that everyone who interviews with Root has a great experience – the kind they’ll tell everyone they know about!

This full-time role is based at our De Waterkant office in Cape Town, but will be fully-remote during COVID-19.

What you’ll do

  • Help scale the Root team with A-players
  • Find the talent in the market that could be a great fit for our team
  • Do screening calls with candidates and applicants
  • Manage the hiring process, end to end
  • Evolve and refine the hiring process to be more effective
  • Coach and guide hiring managers on the hiring process
  • Work with hiring managers (team leads) across the organization to define roles
  • Assist and reduce mindshare for hiring managers during the process
  • Ensure that Root is known as an exceptional place to work
  • Onboard new employees to ensure they feel welcome, they effectively integrate with the Root team, and they get up to speed super fast

What you’ll need

  • University degree and 3+ years professional working experience
  • Experience working as a recruiter
  • Exceptional communication skill, verbal and written
  • Well organised and process-driven
  • Ability to create, implement and grow processes
  • Ability to manage many moving parts without dropping balls
  • Ability to put others at ease with your presence
  • Ability to understand new things fast
  • Ability to communicate with substance
  • Likes people and likes talking to people
  • Objective and task-oriented
  • Friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed
  • Passionate about being part of a startup
  • Experience in a fast-growing tech startup is a bonus
